Its Come To This?

No, Gateway is not going out of business. No, were not in deep trouble and if you dont help all is not lost. God is blessing the ministry. Women are being saved. Babies are coming into the world, saved from abortion. Youll hear about all of this in a few days at the October 9th. Stewardship Banquet.

But..there is a real need. To not share that need would not be right. Since we look to the Lord to provide, we trust Him for our financial need.

As of today we are about $22,000 behind in our budget. While many ministries have very large budgets, Gateways is about $140,000 yearly.

We are not attributing the shortfall to post 9-11, to the economy, or any other specific. We simply see that theres a shortfall.

We are asking our friends to consider giving a Special Gift to offset this shortfall at this years Banquet. If you will be attending the Banquet, would you prayerfully consider giving the largest gift possible for this need? If you cannot make the Banquet, would you still consider this request at this time?

Its come to this. God remains faithful. He will provide. Well believe Hell use Gods people to meet a very real need. ** Thank you for listening,

Rev. Dean Gavaris, Executive Director

** And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory
in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Dear Gateway friends:

Caitlin, age 16 in S. Jersey is resolute about getting an abortion tomorrow morning in Princeton. Many have talked to her about this. Originally, she was against an abortion, but now is resolved to go through with it. Mom is a nurse in ob/gyn, and is encouraging the abortion. Pray that she changes her mind.

Your prayers mean a great deal:
" Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV)

Update on Rev. Johnny Hunter:

From: "James W. O'Clock"

Date: Mon, 22 Sep 2003 14:45:21 -0400
Subject: Praise Report - Dr. Hunter

"The Lord is answering our prayers! Pat Hunter reported today that the
doctor is amazed at her husband's progress, and said it was practically a
miracle! He is off the respirator, sat up for the first time today, and
may be able to go home by the end of the week!

Pat thanks you so much for your faithful prayers, and asks for you to
continue, especially against any infections while Dr. Hunter heals. She
said that he won't be able to see or talk with anyone for about 3 months
so that he can receive the rest he needs, stress-free, and to minimize
the risk of infection.

May God continue to richly bless you,
Bill & Pirkko"

Praise the Lord!!!

A note from Lois Cunningham on brother Johnny Hunter:

"Dear friends,

Our friend, Pastor Johnny Hunter, of LEARN (African American Pro-life Group) urgently needs prayer. He had a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital on Monday. Today he had a heart catheterization procedure which revealed his heart is only at 30% capacity. Now he is scheduled for a 5-way heart bypass tomorrow. His prognosis is poor. Lets pray that the GREAT PHYSICIAN will heal him and amaze the doctors. Johnny Hunter has been a great champion in the cause for the sanctity of human life. Remember his wife Pat and his children Johnny, David and Danielle in your prayers as well. God bless you, Lois "

Please keep in your prayers the sister of the lady who led Dean to Christ:
From Sue:

Hi Anne,
We're doing okay, but keep the prayers coming. I am very bruised and my
oncologist believes it is a combination of the coumadin and my platelets
being low. I go on Tuesday to get blood work before treatment on Thursday.
If my platelets are too low I won't be able to have treatment.

Terry will be getting a CAT scan on his lung on Monday. He had an
appointment with Dr. Bell as a followup to his being in the hospital and
there was a spot on his lung showing up on the x-ray from when he was in the
hospital. Dr. Bell said if he had known it when he was in the hospital they
would have checked it out then. The radiologist is thinking it is just a
fatty mass, but need to check it out.

I'll bet you enjoyed Janie. It's so nice she could come and help.

Love to all,
Sue

Prayer request:

Please pray for 95 year-old supporter, Lorene McKee. Mrs. McKee broke her hip in a fall.

Her granddaughter, Bonnie, has beenvolunteering (doing paperwork) in our Irvington office for the past six years. Bonnie is blind, but she doesn't let that stop her!

Also, keep Sara Bost, former Mayor of Irvington, a professed believer, in your prayers. As you may have read, she was sentenced to one-year in prison as part of a plea bargain. See the stories below:

Relative to tonites execution of Paul Hill:

"The problem is not the abortionist around the corner. The problem is the hearts of the people. The hearts of the people can be changed by prayer and perhaps by personally costly symbolic resistance. But the hearts of the people cannot be changed by gunning down the abortionist around the corner. That will set the hearts of the people in their wicked ways. Nothing will change for the better; it will only get worse. More babies will die. Then the judgment of God really will come."
