Dear Gateway friends,

We have a real need for prayer and for physical help.

The aunt of one of the ladies who came to Gateway last night had a traumatic experience on Tuesday.

Her boyfriend (and father of two of her children) was murdered in Newark on June 17th.See the Star Ledger article below.

Lola* (not her real name) is 25. She has a 3 year old and a 7 year old daughter and is 9 weeks pregnant.

Her boyfriend, Marquis, was killed one day before Naomi's 3rd birthday.

Lola is very afraid that those who may have been involved in killing Marquis are after her and her family.

She is staying with a grandmother in Newark (They lived in Irvington).

We've given the kids some toys but they have left the apartment in Irvington with only the clothes on their backs.

Rev. Michael Westbrook (Gateway's Board Chairman) and two staff members from Greater Life in Newark are assisting the family.

What is needed are clothes (preferably new) or financial gifts for us to purchase clothes for the kids.

Below are the names and sizes of the two girls:

Naomi, age 3 (40 pounds) size 4T
Janari, age 7 (65 pounds) size 8

If you can help, please let me know via email or telephone. Thanks, and please pray for this family. We understand that Lola was considering the claims of Christ for the past two months and believes that this incident has opened her to her need for the Lord. We obviously agree.

Thanks,
Dean
