Hot Summer News!

Dear Gateway Partner,

Jesus commands believers to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’’ Mark 16:15.  Gateway has the unique opportunity to reach a formerly unreached people group with the gospel. The recent exploding immigration of men and women from all corners of the globe means that ‘the world is coming to us! With the addition of several newly trained volunteers we will be able to open additional shifts to see many more men and women.

Our 30th Anniversary fundraising dinner will take place on Thursday October 29th at The Gran Centurions in Clark. Save the date.  We do hope you can attend. It will give you the opportunity to hear what God is doing at Gateway. The following story is from our Elizabeth office:

Romisha a 21 year old came into the counselling room seemingly distracted by her cell phone.  As JoAnn began to share her own personal story Romisha became extremely attentive. She shared how Christ changed her life, giving her a whole new prospective, hope and a future.

JoAnn was able to explain the Gospel to Romisha and she prayed to trust Christ as Lord and Savior. When she left she felt like a heavy weight had been removed from her shoulders. Additional literature and a list of Bible believing churches was given to her. JoAnn will be following-up on Romisha.

To update you on the overall work, Gateway has seen 754 women, almost 100 men and
170 babies have been born so far this year. Of these women, 116 have made professions of
faith in Jesus and 22 have rededicated their lives to Christ. You too can be a  part of this
work with your financial gift and daily prayer.

Would you consider the largest gift possible to cover to help us meet our overall
goal of $30,000 needed within the next three months?

We commit to continuing to provide women with the opportunity to hear the gospel
and make biblical decisions about their pregnancy.

Dear Gateway supporter,

We have discovered that our mailbox at our 960 Springfield Avenue, Irvington has been compromised sometime between the months of March and June. It looks as though this occurred in the beginning of the month.

Whoever has taken the mail has been able to deposit the checks into their account electronically. The missing checks clear the bank and the sender never knows that Gateway did not receive the donation. The back of the check is endorsed by hand in a scrawled type of handwriting using upper and lower case with the words "For Deposit". At times "deposit" has been misspelled. There are no other identifying marks on the back of the check since it was deposited electronically via their smartphone or ATM.

If you have sent Gateway a gift in the past few months and have not received a receipt from us, please email me with the date and amount sent. If you have not retained receipts, please let us know and we will print out a listing of all gifts for the past few months.

We have contacted the Irvington Police and Irvington Post Office, visited the Post Office Police at Federal Plaza in Newark, and filed an online Post Office Fraud Report. In addition, a local bank has strongly urged us to have all our mail delivered to a post office box.

We have secured PO Box 1793, Union, NJ 07083, which will now be used as our mailing address. Our physical headquarters remains 960 Springfield Avenue in Irvington. As you know, we also maintain a satellite location at 65 Jefferson Avenue, in Elizabeth.

Unfortunately, each person affected must file a fraud report with their own bank. The bank will replace the funds into your own account, after which you may issue a replacement check to Gateway.
We are sorry for this inconvenience to you, our supporters, but feel that our actions in securing a post office box will help protect future gifts to the ministry. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call (973-399-8378) or email us dean@gateway.org.

May we hear from you?

Our message is simple, yet so urgent!

Amidst a world of fear and anger, self and rebellion, you can have the joy and peace of knowing Christ in a personal way, and being assured of heaven.

THE SCRIPTURES SAY:
"There is not a single man who is righteous, there is not one who understands, or who seeks for God. All men have turned away from God, they have all gone wrong. No one is good, not even one." (Romans 3:10-12)

But can't good works assure me of eternal life?

Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

Good works can't get us into heaven... they are no solution to our problem of sin.    They in no way give us the abundant life Jesus Christ wants us to have.
WHY? Because...

WE ARE ALL SINNERS BEFORE GOD:

Romans 3:23 tells us "All men have sinned and are far away from God's saving presence."

Isaiah 59:2:  “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.”

THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN IS SPIRITUAL DEATH:
"For the wages of sin is death (spiritual death), but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (
Rom. 6:23)

WE CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES:
"For by grace have you been saved (from eternal death) through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, that no one should boast." (
Eph. 2:8-9)

No one can climb his or her way to heaven. None of us are worthy of obtaining eternal life. In John 3:3, we read about a very, very religious person named Nicodemus. Yet, Jesus said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he can not see the kingdom of God."

Do you know how to be "born again"?  By going to a particular church? Being baptized? Good works? The Golden Rule? Just feeling sorry? NO!

By acknowledging your sin and rebellion to God, trusting in His finished work on the cross, and asking Him personally to take over the control of your life, you can be assured that your sins are forgiven.. and that you have eternal life!

The Bible tells us.. "For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God..."  (I Peter 3:18)

The purpose of Christ's coming to earth was to give us the way to obtain eternal life, through trust in Him.

"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar."  (I John 1:8-10)

"He that believeth (trusts) not the Son (as personal Savior) shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  (John 3:36)

Christ, the Good shepherd, also came "..in order that they (you and I) might have life, life in all its fullness."  (John 10:10)

IF YOU WERE TO DIE TONIGHT, WHERE WOULD YOU SPEND ETERNITY?

If you are unsure that you have eternal life, pray a prayer like this, and be sure!
Lord, I confess I am a sinner.  I recognize that I can do nothing to save myself form an eternity in hell.  Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  I now trust in you (Jesus Christ) to be my personal Savior and Lord of my life, and hereby commit my life to you for all eternity.

(If you prayed this prayer, please let us know, that we may help you in your commitment to Christ)  dean@gateway.org /  973-399-8378
