From Cathy Horling, Gateway's CPA:

Hi everyone,

I am delighted and very thankful to tell you that my aunt's cancer has NOT
spread to her lymph nodes! Thank you, Lord! And thanks to all of you for
your prayers! She has an appointment with her oncologist on Nov 1 to discuss
treatment options.

Please continue to lift my Uncle Rudy up for healing of his kidneys and
eyes, and that his diabetes comes under control.

Thank you all so much for your faithfulness!

God bless,
Cathy

Dear friends of Gateway,

Our 21st. Annual Stewardship Banquet is just two days away!

If you or some folks you know plan to attend, would give us a call at 973-399-8378 or email me at dean@gateway.org?

We need to give a final 'headcount' to the our friends at Calvary Tabernacle, who are hosting the banquet.

Also, would you do two more things?

1) Ask that someone announce the Banquet this Wednesday at your church's
prayer meeting?

We've sent out personal invitations to pastors, asked supporters to be table
captains, distributed flyers, mailed bulletin inserts and posters to all our
supporting churches, sent dozens of personal and regularly emailed our supporters.

So, the word is out there!

2) Pray for the Lord's blessing on the evening. We're excited about the music,
message and testimonies. From our past experience, this Banquet will be great!

Below is a map and directions link to 69 Myrtle Avenue, Cranford, NJ
(the site of the banquet)

Thank you again for all you do for the Lord via the ministry of Gateway,

Dean

PS: We look forward to hearing from you!

Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them." Hebrews 6:10

Violence against children widely accepted: U.N. study By Michelle Nichols
Thu Oct 12, 10:05 AM ET

Violence against children is widely accepted as normal around the world, and at least 106 countries still allow physical punishment in schools, a U.N. report on the issue showed on Thursday.

The report, issued by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan's office, found that 147 countries have not banned the punishment of children in other care settings and that up to 275 million children witness domestic violence annually.

"Legalized violence against children in one context risks tolerance of violence against children generally," said Louise Arbour, U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, in a statement released with the report.

"Violence against children is a violation of their human rights, a disturbing reality of our societies," she said.

The report said World Health Organization data estimated that in 2002 some 150 million girls and 73 million boys were subjected to forced sexual intercourse and other forms of violence involving touch, while 53,000 were killed.

"Many people, even children, accept violence as an inevitable part of life," said the 45-page study by independent expert Paulo Sergio Pinheiro.

International Labor Organization data showed that in 2004 there were 218 million child laborers of whom 126 million did hazardous work, the report said. WHO estimates up to 140 million women and girls have undergone genital mutilation, it said.

"I urge states to prohibit all forms of violence against children, in all settings, including all corporal punishment, harmful traditional practices -- such as early and forced marriages, female genital mutilation and so-called honor crimes -- sexual violence and torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment," Pinheiro said.

The report also calls for the appointment of a U.N. special representative to act as a high profile global advocate to promote prevention and elimination of all violence against children.

From Cathy Horling, our CPA:

Hi everyone,

Here are some updates and additions:

1) My aunt, Betty, is having a lumpectomy tomorrow. Her cancer is Stage one, praise the Lord! Please pray that it has not spread and for her complete healing.

2) My uncle, Rudy, whose doctors still want to set him up for kidney dialysis or a transplant, if a donor can be found. The bleeding in his eyes is coming under control, but damage to his vision has occurred from the treatments. All of his problems are the result of his diabetes, which we know the Lord can control. Remember the woman with the issue of blood?

3) My aunt, Renee, who is having a biopsy on a lump in her breast. Please pray that it is benign.

4) My friend, Fran, who has a tumor on her leg. Please pray that it is benign also.

Thank you so much for persevering in prayer and believing with me and my family for these healings.

God bless,
Cathy
