Please pray for Dorothy's dad (pictured on the left, with granddaughters Rebecca and Lauren)

Dorothy Barnes ne: Black, was Archway Pregnancy Centers director right before I joined the ministry in 1986. She and husband Rev. Tim Barnes are dear friends. Tim pastors the Living Word Alliance Church (http://lwac.org) in New Milford, NJ. I've spoken there many times for the ministry.

Dorothy writes:

Dear Friends,

Please pray for my 85 year old father. He has stage 3B cancer and is to begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments this coming Monday in an effort to extend his life. The treatment is planned for six to seven weeks.

He'll be staying with us ~ his wife is unable to care for him at this time.

Please pray...

* That he will not become real sick from the treatments...

* That we'll be strong for him and have wisdom and strength as we take care of him...

* That the treatments will be successful in extending his life, if it be the Lord's will...

* For his wife, and for my sibings who don't yet know Jesus, that somehow God will use this in
their lives to draw them to Himself...

* that God be the strength of my father's life, and that he grow closer to Jesus through all this... * and for whatever else God puts on your heart to pray.

Thank you, and may the Lord richly bless you!

Love,
Dorothy (& Tim, Lauren & Rebecca)

Keenan Fitzgerald, Jim's son writes:

My Dad is doing well. He is not 100% but probably won't be for a while yet. But the prognosis is good. He remains in the hospital, but is no longer in ICU.

He is getting some of his old personality back and his odd sense of humor, so things are looking good. Thanks again to all the prayer warriors out there.

In Christ, Keenan Fitzgerald - Tuesday, September 14, 2010 10:54 PM

I just received this email from the son of a longtime former volunteer, Jim Fitzgerald.

Please pray for Jim.Thank you, Dean - Monday, September 13, 2010 5:12 PM

'My dad (Jim) was admitted to the hospital today. They think he had a mini stroke and is being held for observation. Please alert your prayer chain. Thanks. Keenan Fitzgerald' -

Former volunteer Jean Fitzgerald updates the story:
Thank you for the prayers. Jim did suffer a mini -stroke. The CT scan showed bleeding in the brain. However, it is very small. He is in the ICU because they want to monitor him very closely. They will be doing more tests to determine if the bleeding stopped or is ongoing. He seems okay but has a hard time talking.(If you can believe that!!) He can't put thoughts together and express them. He knows what's going on and understands what you say. Depending on the tests, he may be home in two or three days. We really appreciate your prayers. Love you all, Jean

Lifting up or putting down?
... some thoughts on
Hebrews 10:1-10

As we lift Him up and not put down those whose words or lifestyle oppose Him, the focus will be on Him, and not on our perceived 'enemies'.

Our enemy is Satan!

Resist Him by drawing near to God and by bringing the gospel to a lost world.

What we say, write or do - does it simply expose the problem or reveal the solution?

Do we seek revolution, reformation or revival?

Strive towards righteousness, not simply being right.

Remember that Christ's sacrifice was once for all. Hebrews 10:1-10:

'1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5 Consequently, when Christ [1] came into the world, he said,“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me;6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”
8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
